The nourished yogini here!  In this day and age people are more like busy bubbles apposed to busy bees.  We are all stressed about something, in a rush and in our own world.  It’s not surprising to bump into a stranger on the street, because their eyes were glued to their phone.  We are all busy – and we are all stressed.  Our happiness has plummeted as our hectic life style increases.  I believe there are three simple things we can do in our daily life to change the way we feel.  Three steps  to achieve daily happiness.

1.   Awareness:  Put your phone down, take off your headphones.  Don’t get me wrong, I love listening to music too.  But try to be aware of your surroundings a little more.  Something as simple as moving for a person on the bus is often ignored due to the bubble we create with our headphones.  This is feeding into the stress cycle for that other person.  This doesn’t concern you?  Lets look at it another way.  By being more aware, and moving for that person, you heighten your chance for positive human interaction.  A smile, thank-you, maybe even a small conversation.  Vancouver is known as being one of the most snobby cities in Canada.  Why are we so weirded out by others?  We need to get more aware.  We need to be polite and more grateful for others.  Awareness is key.

2.   Patience:  Nothing is more admirable than a person with patience.  We have all seen these types.  They listen, they wait.  Their nature is so calming and refreshing.  Patience can be achieved easily. Everyone can do it.  By waking up a whopping ten minutes early, for example, you can enjoy your coffee or tea, while getting ready and grounded for your day.  Patience towards others starts with yourself.  Practice little things to begin your day with excitement and joy rather than stress and anger.  And if someone cant find their debit card at Starbucks, cut them some slack.  Sighing and stressing will not only affect your day, but the entire lines.  Positive vibes are felt through patience.

3.   Admiration: Take a moment each day to feel inspired by another person.  Someone in your daily life – not an internet personality.  Although I love the internet for the great healthy community it is, it also takes away the true inspirations in our lives.  Pinpoint the reason that you feel so connected to a certain friend, or coworker.  Even better, find a positive quality about someone who jerks you the wrong way.  The fact that you dislike another person is only hurting yourself – they are not affected by your feelings. They have their own.

Remember, happiness is all perception.  If you make time to be aware, patient and inspired, you will not only feel happiness, but you will also promote it on to others.
